I love being part of this choir as it has given me a new lease of life since I joined last year. I was with a choir for 16 years which was enjoyable to start with but got boring as the years went on. I always wanted to sing Jazz in a Jazz choir, but when I checked on the internet the only Jazz choir that came up was the Glasgow Jazz Choir and, although it would have been nice to have had something like that in Edinburgh it would have saved me travelling to Glasgow every Monday, but I really enjoy being there. It is lovely to sing with a bunch of people who also love the Jazz music and under the Directorship of a talented lady called Outi and the very talented Jim Clelland and his Trio I feel the choir is coming on leaps and bounds and it is a real pleasure being part of it.

“I joined the choir on its first night and soon inspired my sister and later our mum to join too. Despite our difference in ages, we all thoroughly enjoy being part of the choir, as it provides a great antidote to busy working lives. The choir leader is always enthusiastic and supports us to build on our existing experience and develop jazz singing techniques. Rehearsals and concerts provide a friendly atmosphere and a great range of music too!”

“Great songs, great choir, great fun! My daughter enjoyed the concerts so much that she’s now joined the choir too.”

“Jumped at the chance to join Jazz Choir Scotland as no-one else is singing their repertoire. Lots of tunes from the Great American Songbook. Also to sing with a jazz trio as accompaniment gives you a great lift!”

“I really enjoyed ending a Sunday afternoon listening to some lovely jazz vocal music. More please!”
Audience comment from Lynne at JANUARY JAZZ concert on 25 January 2015
I come from a musical family, and had wanted to join a choir for a long time. I joined Jazz Choir Scotland over a year ago. I love the swing/jazz songs, and enjoy the practices, chatting to people who like to sing as much as I do.
